Today marks the beginning of a new year, decade, and a new City-County Council for the great city of Indianapolis.
As your elected Councilman for District 18 in Indianapolis, one of my priorities for my term will be keeping the public informed through as many facets that I can provide. This blog will serve as the primary outlet, and I will share it on the various social media sites for public exposer.
To coincide with the previous priority, I am going to create an environment to cultivate public engagement. This blog will be open to anyone who wishes to join and create input. Be aware I will not tolerate spamming of any sort, and unproductive rhetoric will be removed. If you have an issue that is of great importance, my phone number is public information, and I expect you to pick up the phone and call me.
Appreciation and Congratulations
Thank you to everyone who sent kind words of congratulations. I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve as Councilman for District 18. When I took the oath on January 1st, I accepted the responsibility for the livelihood of nearly 900,000 Citizens. It is now time to move past the election phase of public service and roll into the next, Public Administration.
The Next Phase: Public Administration
Moving forward, I am anxiously awaiting committee assignments and reflected calendar dates. For that to occur, there is a committee called "Committee on Committees." The following individuals make up the committee: Council President (Vop Osili), Council Majority Leader (Maggie Lewis), and Council Minority Leader (Brian Mowery). They will decide which Councilors belong to what committee.
It is my responsibility to represent the citizens of District 18. In addition to receiving my committee assignments, I will run in parallel with the community seeking out opportunities for engagement. The best way to grow the District and City is though community participation, without the community, I am one person. Please reach out, make me aware, and let me know where you can help.
