DC BLOX Community Meeting and Resident Survey

On Thursday evening, DC BLOX presented information and answered resident questions from 6:30 PM until about 10:30 PM.

That is a long meeting, but it also shows how important this conversation is to the community. Residents came prepared with serious questions about infrastructure, water, energy, noise, environmental cleanup, community investment, and the long-term impact on the Eastside.

I will continue sharing information as it becomes available. You can review the DC BLOX project information here:

I also created a short community feedback survey so residents can continue submitting questions, concerns, and ideas. This will help make sure the public conversation stays focused on the issues that matter most to the people who live, work, and travel near the proposed site.

Building the Smartest City in America means making sure major projects are reviewed with transparency, accountability, and real community input. My goal is to keep residents informed and make sure your questions stay front and center.

Recognizing Warren Central Excellence

This week, I had the honor of presenting proclamations to Warren Central High School students

recognized as the valedictorian and salutatorians.

Years ago, I said I wanted to do more to recognize academic achievement in Indianapolis. This was exactly the kind of moment I had in mind.

These students represent hard work, discipline, family support, and the promise of our next generation. I am proud to recognize their accomplishments and grateful for the teachers, parents, and school leaders who helped them reach this point.

Indianapolis is stronger when we celebrate students who are doing things the right way and working toward a bright future.

Washington Square Mall Conversation Continues

The work around Washington Square Mall also continued this week.

I met with the planning team to review the first version of early bubble diagrams and discuss next steps. We also reviewed an additional scope of work for a new quantitative study that will help bring more data into the planning process.

This is still early work, but it matters. Washington Square is one of the most important redevelopment opportunities on the Eastside. We need a thoughtful process that includes community input, realistic planning, and a clear understanding of what the site can become.

This is part of a larger countywide conversation on smarter local government, better land use, and stronger neighborhood investment.

Memorial Day and Race Weekend

This weekend is also Memorial Day weekend and Race Weekend in Indianapolis.

As we enjoy the Indy 500 and time with family, I hope we also take time to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a reminder that public service comes with responsibility. We owe it to those who sacrificed to keep working toward a stronger, safer, and more united community.
